Testing the spirit.

I had a dream when I was a child when a demon tried to trick me into thinking it was a messenger from God. It went like this.

Three angels (fallen, but I did not know this) came to me and said they had something to show me. They were very pretty, wearing white clothes, had a beautiful face and smile. This is why I thought they were angels. We started walking through old, brown and grey dusty paths. It was day time. There were lots of little houses around and the angel said one of them said it was going to show me around Israel. It said some things about what happened in certain places, pointing to them. The other ones were walking along with us. I remember getting very excited to see and know these things. It then pointed to a house and said, “And there is Mary with baby Jesus.” At this point I was very happy. But it went on, “And as you can see, Jesus was actually a girl.” I replied, “No, that’s wrong. Jesus was a boy.” “That’s what people say, but the truth is Jesus is a girl.” Mary started looking at me and was about to show me baby Jesus. I turned to the angel and said, “No! No he’s not! That’s not true! He’s a boy! Go away in the name of Jesus!” These fallen angels started changing their facial expressions to a mean one and seemed like they were about to attack me. Suddenly we went to another place of just one colour and that Israel place dissipated and some real, godly angels came and fought them with bows and arrows. There were about five of them and their clothing was so shiny and bright I could not see them properly. They attacked the demons and I just stood there watching. Then I woke up relieved that God had sent His (real!) angels to help me.

This may seem like a silly dream, especially because of the “girl Jesus” situation, but for me, as a child, it was very intense. I felt sad that demons were tricking me to think they were angels (and for believing them). Normally I’d have dreams with demons that I was sure that they were demons (for they were ugly and terrifying), and so I’d immediately cast them out in the name of Jesus. It was and still is rare for me to have dreams with angels, that’s why I got excited when the demon that looked like an angel came in my dream.

This is why it’s important to know what you’re dealing with and to test the spirit behind things. Even as a child (so parents, teach your children)! Here are a few examples of things which can confuse people, “wolves in sheep clothing”:

– Mystical, interesting creatures (Ex: “sweet, good” witches, fairies);
– “Biblical” films, cartoons, books (the devil knows the Bible/the letter kills. Ex: Noah movie, LOTR, Narnia);
– Dolls, toys, paintings (beautiful, cute, harmless? Ex: spider man, crying child, furby, pokemon);
– Testimonies of becoming a Christian (but not really. Ex: JRR Tolkien, Nonkoliso Ngeleka);
– Visions and dreams of angels, demons, heaven, hell, etc (Ex: Colton Burpo, Wendy Chousmatison);
– Prophecies (false prophets and preachers. Ex: Ellen G. White, Inri Christo).
– Miracles (healings, talking to dead loved ones? Ex: Benny Hinn, Todd Bentley)

Ask God to help you discern between good and evil by giving you wisdom. Ask Him to not lead you into temptation!

“Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.” 1 John 4:1

“Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” Matthew 7:20

On how to test the spirit behind things and people, I recommend reading this post by John Piper.

The end is now!

This is a dream I had a few years ago. (Because of my depression episode, it is very hard for me to distinguish between the years, so I’m sorry about not knowing when I had this dream.)

I was in the middle of a park. It was night time and all around me I saw horrible things happening, such as people being raped, hurting and killing each other, cursing, robbing, screaming and fighting. Many horrid scenes all happening at once. There were lots of people doing these things, along with lots of victims. I felt confused and afraid and desperately wanted to ask someone what was happening. As I looked for someone that was not participating in any of these things, I saw something (in a tall, strong, human form, wearing black) that was just watching everything happen. I remember thinking it was a demon, but not being sure. As I was so desperate to talk to someone, I asked it, and it didn’t respond immediately. It just looked around at the things that were happening with a sad and disturbed expression and afterwards said things to me like, “Don’t you people see? You don’t notice us! You don’t care! It is like we are doing these things in vain! Urrrrgh!” It then started walking/gliding with me and suddenly we were in the middle of a church temple, where lots of people were congregating. Some were singing and very happy, some had their hands in the air, some were day dreaming, some were bored. There was also a pastor in front of the congregation saying that the end was going to happen some time in the near future. I could see through the walls of this church, and all the bad things were happening at the same time and I tried to find someone in the church that saw the same thing as me, but found nobody. I thought to myself, “These people are blind! They don’t see what’s going on!” The creature then came in front of me (I was the only one that could see it) and started shouting very angrily, “You keep saying that the end is coming, but you don’t see! You don’t know! It’s not coming! It’s happening right now! This is it! The end of times is NOW!”

And then I woke up from this very disturbing nightmare-dream which I still don’t know the true meaning/motive of. It either had a scaring or awaring purpose… or both. Do you think we’re living in the end of times?

May God set us apart and protect us from this world that’s full of sin and tragedy, delivering us from the evil that’s all around.

Eternal Ink – A poem by Craig F. Pitts

I saw this poem on this Wordpress blog and just had to share it.

I dreamed I was in heaven
Where an angel kept God‘s book.
He was writing so intently
I just had to take a look.

It was not, at first, his writing
That made me stop and think
But the fluid in the bottle
That was marked ETERNAL INK.

This ink was most amazing,
Dark black upon his blotter
But as it touched the parchment
It became as clear as water.

The angel kept on writing,
But as quickly as a wink
The words were disappearing
With that strange ETERNAL INK.

The angel took no notice,
But kept writing on and on.
He turned each page and filled it
Till all its space was gone.

I thought he wrote to no avail,
His efforts were so vain
For he wrote a thousand pages
That he’d never read again.

And as I watched and wondered that
This awesome sight was mine,
I actually saw a word stay black
As it dried upon the line.

The angel wrote and I thought I saw
A look of satisfaction.
At last he had some print to show
For all his earnest action.

A line or two dried dark and stayed
As black as black can be,
But strangely the next paragraph
Became invisible to see.

The book was getting fuller,
The angel’s records true,
But most of it was blank, with
Just a few words coming through.

I knew there was some reason,
But as hard as I could think,
I couldn’t grasp the significance
Of that ETERNAL INK.

The mystery burned within me,
And I finally dared to ask
The angel to explain to me
Of his amazing task.

And what I heard was frightful
As the angel turned his head.
He looked directly at me,
And this is what he said…

I know you stand and wonder
At what my writing’s worth
But God has told me to record
The lives of those on earth.

The book that I am filling
Is an accurate account
Of every word and action
And to what they do amount.

And since you have been watching
I must tell you what is true;
The details of my journal
Are the strict accounts of YOU.

The Lord asked me to watch you
As each day you worked and played.
I saw you as you went to church,
I saw you as you prayed.

But I was told to document
Your life through all the week.
I wrote when you were proud and bold,
I wrote when you were meek.

I recorded all your attitudes
Whether they were good or bad.
I was sorry that I had to write
The things that make God sad.

So now I’ll tell the wonder
of this ETERNAL INK,
For the reason for its mystery
Should make you stop and think

This ink that God created
To help me keep my journal
Will only keep a record of
Things that are eternal.

So much of life is wasted
On things that matter not
So instead of my erasing,
Smudging ink and ugly blot

I just keep writing faithfully and
Let the ink do all the rest
For it is able to decide
What’s useless and what’s best.

And God ordained that as I write
Of all you do and say
Your deeds that count for nothing
Will just disappear away.

When books are opened someday,
As sure as heaven is true;
The Lord’s ETERNAL INK will tell
What mattered most to you.

If you just lived to please yourself
The pages will be bare,
And God will issue no reward
For you when you get there.

In fact, you’ll be embarrassed,
You will hang your head in shame
Because you did not give yourself
In love to Jesus’ Name.

Yet maybe there will be a few
Recorded lines that stayed
That showed the times you truly cared,
Sincerely loved and prayed.

But you will always wonder
As you enter heaven’s door
How much more glad you would have been
If only you’d done more.

For I record as God sees,
I don’t stop to even think
Because the truth is written
With God’s ETERNAL INK.

When I heard the angel’s story
I fell down and wept and cried
For as yet I still was dreaming
I hadn’t really died.

And I said: O Angel tell the Lord
That soon as I awake
I’ll live my life for Jesus
I’ll do all for His dear sake.

I’ll give in full surrender;
I’ll do all He wants me to;
I’ll turn my back on self and sin
And whatever isn’t true.

And, though the way seems long and rough
I promise to endure
I’m determined to pursue the things
That are holy, clean and pure.

With Jesus as my helper,
I will win lost souls to Thee,
For I know that they will live with Christ
For all eternity.

And that’s what really matters
When my life on earth is gone
That I will stand before the Lord
And hear Him say, well done.

For is it really worth it
As my life lies at the brink?
And I realize that God keeps books
With His ETERNAL INK.

Should all my life be focused
On things that turn to dust?
From this point on I’ll serve the Lord;
I can, I will, I must!

I will NOT send blank pages
Up to God’s majestic throne
For where that record’s going now
Is my eternal home.

I’m giving all to Jesus
I now have seen the link
For I saw an angel write my life
With God’s ETERNAL INK.

19-11-11

A girl. Skinny. Curly hair. Almost 19 years old.
Wearing the same pyjamas she hasn’t changed in three days.
No bathing, or eating, or talking – just crying.
But it took three days for Jesus to resurrect too.

She contemplated drowning in the pond her tears had formed.
Sinking in, slowly, comfortably.
Into the mixture of confusion she would go. And rest. And live. And die.
It was her dream, and therefore, her nightmare, to disappear and dissipate.
“Cowardliness”, some would say, “Just a teenage phase.”
“Selfishness”, others mumbled, “Bold and pure”.
Those words lingered in her wounds – The cuts from not-so long ago.
She closed her eyes. Sighed. Felt death itself beside her.
Her head was pounding; her heart was weak.
She felt heavy and allowed the pressure to push her into bed.
Out of control. Numb. Breathing. In and out.

“Draw, my child. Draw.”

Pencil, rubber and paper in hands.
Thoughts of spiders, thorns and scorpions.
Knives, evil laugher, guns and scratches.
But the drawing came out to be something else:

A girl. Skinny. Curly hair. Almost 19 years old.
Falling. Bent. Eyes closed.
Maybe dead, or peaceful, or in despair.
Maybe sleeping, tired, or sick.
A hand. Two hands. They held her.
Arms so strong, yet gentle and soft.
White robe. Feeling of security.
A face of lightning. An angel!
He said, “Hush. Rest, child of God.
I am here and will not let you fall.”

So still she stayed. Paralysed.
In wonder, thankful and blessed.
“Doubt not, child of God, you are loved.
Your cry has brought me here.
You feel what Jesus felt on earth.
There is nothing new.”

And so she felt the happiest sadness –
The saddest happiness of all.
